THE CHEONGSAM TRILOGY

PRINT

THE BRIEF

The Cheongsam Trilogy takes the timeless elegance of the cheongsam and gives it a playful, contemporary twist. The collection celebrates one of the most recognisable silhouettes in Chinese fashion, layering traditional-inspired motifs with unexpected combinations of hot pink, turquoise, citrus yellow, vivid orange and deep purple.

The cheongsam, also known as the qipao, developed into its familiar modern form in 1920s and 1930s Shanghai, evolving from earlier Chinese dress traditions into a beautifully streamlined garment associated with cosmopolitan Chinese style.

Here, those traditional references are deliberately reimagined rather than reproduced. Chinoiserie-inspired patterns and decorative forms retain a connection to Asian visual culture, while the saturated palette takes the artwork somewhere much more modern, joyful and expressive. The bold colours are about celebration, confidence and reinvention.

They are designed to feel like a meeting of two worlds: heritage and modernity, elegance and playfulness, East and contemporary global interiors.

Styling the Collection

These prints are designed to bring colour, character and a playful Asian influence into a space without overwhelming it. Style all three together as a vibrant gallery wall, or let a single cheongsam become a statement piece above a console, desk or bedside table. Their bold pink, teal, yellow, orange and purple palette works beautifully against crisp whites and warm neutrals, while natural timber, rattan, brass and a few carefully chosen Asian-inspired accessories help connect the contemporary artwork back to its heritage.
